Feathers February update

Kia ora Auckland Feathers

We hope that you have been enjoying summer! It’s great to see so many people coming to Badminton through January and February, and we welcome all those new players to our club.

 

Club play in 2021

The Feathers 2021 Club Season will run from 1 March–30 November. Play will be on:

-       Wednesday evenings (7-9pm) for members only

-       Saturday mornings (10am-1pm) for all-comers 

We hope to be able to stick to these days and times for the whole year, however it is possible that these could change; we’ll update you if any changes are on the horizon.

A gentle reminder to observe some basic courtesy at club play:

-       Please pick up the used shuttles at the end of each club play.

-       Don’t hit shuttles along the ground—shuttles are expensive and we need them to last as long as possible.

-       Please understand that the people deciding on games on board duty are doing the best they can to balance a range of factors: different skill levels and styles of play, providing a variety of games for everyone, different personalities, helping develop players, and ensuring that everyone has a reasonable number of games.

-       Please pay your club fee whenever you play! We have a high level of trust but need you to do your bit.

 

Membership

The 2021 Feathers membership fee is $75. Play will remain at $5/hour for members. See the membership page for details.

We really appreciate you joining/rejoining as soon as possible, and ensuring that the club remains strong.

 

Upcoming Annual General Meeting

Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on Saturday 6 March, at 1pm. Please try to stay on after play for this meeting: we will make it as short as possible! It is important for the ongoing success of the club that as many members attend as possible.

At the AGM, members will elect committee members for the 2021 year. If you would like to stand for the Feathers committee, or have any other questions about the AGM or committee, please get in touch with Samuel (the Feathers Secretary) via Facebook or email: samuelholloway@gmail.com. Note that nominations for the Feathers committee should be submitted by Saturday 27 February.

 

Tournaments

We intend to run three tournaments this year:

Internal Tournament: the Darling Cup

Saturday 12 June, 9am-2pm

Club Tournament

Saturday 22 August, 9am-5pm

Transtasman Tournament

Saturday 30 October, 9am-5pm, followed by social events

Note that this event will only take place if quarantine-free international travel from Australia recommences and other conditions related to Covid-19 allow

More information will be provided well in advance of each tournament.
