Club Update

To our fellow Feathers,

For obvious reasons the club has had a very quiet year, and we hope you are safe and well as the country emerges from lockdown.

Thank you all for your support over the last year. We are getting into a much better place financially as a club and we will have an exciting rest of the year.

Some updates:

1. Sport Auckland

The committee have applied on our club’s behalf for a grant from Community Resilience Fund from Sports Auckland to cover any outstanding bills. This means we can start afresh from June 2020. I am pleased to say the application was successful and we have been awarded $1000.

2. Finances

Please see these in the Facebook Group or ask a Committee Member.

3. Club Nights, Fees and Structure

We now have the ability to start a new club year. Club membership fee will be reducing this year to $55. This is a pro rata reduction of 3 months. These membership fees are now due. Please deposit into the Bank Account 12-3034-0524287-00 and use your name as a reference. This is the only way to pay the membership fee, as we can’t accept cash at this time.

Please complete the Online Registration Form. Click HERE

Please remember this fee helps us to keep weekly club play fees to a minimum.

Weekly cost will remain the same despite cost have increased this year, with courts cost rising by $2 an hour. Shuttles also increased by 0.85 a tube:

• Members cost: will be $10 for 2 hours play at $15 for three hours play.

• Non-members cost: will be $15 for 2 hours play and $20 for three hours play.

Club play will remain on Thursday nights from 7-9pm and Saturdays from 12-3pm (at this stage). However, please note that we have been considering moving weekend club time to 9am-12pm on Saturdays; this will be open for discussion at the upcoming AGM.

4. ABA negotiation for club members to get discount court rates

The club have worked on your behalf for our members to finally get the ability to book your courts if you want to play outside of club play at reduced court rates. In order to get this, you must be a member of Auckland Feathers.

Once you have registered with the ABA and AF, then the clubs courts rates will be applied to your account and you will be able to book courts at reduced costs. You email address must be the same on each registration form.

5. Tournaments

• Spring Smash Tournament 1st August 2020: Let’s get spring started in style with an internal tournament from 12-5pm on this afternoon.

• Trans-Tasman: We have been in contact with our sister clubs in Australia, and due to the uncertainly of Covid-19 we are postponing this tournament until 2021. This will be moving to the Easter long weekend. It will be held on Saturday 3rd April 2021. Full details will be release in time. But secure ‘Easter Weekend’ for a great weekend of Badminton, Socialising and Partying! We are really looking forward to hosting this event and our Australian badminton cousins.

6. AGM

Our official AGM is now long overdue, we would like to have this at 3pm after club play on the 6th June. A separate email will be sent out regarding this.

7. Club Play during Alert Level 2

In accordance with the rules from ABA and sports Auckland (all clubs must follow these rules)

• Club must keep records of all contact details of players in order to contract trace.

• You must be a member of the club in order to play for the club during alert level 2 (hence for Feathers you must redo your membership). (This weekend is an exception).

• Payment will only be accepted for Club Play via Bank Transfer.

We look forward to welcoming you all back from this Saturday when club play will return from 12-3pm on 30th May. Remember that to play with Feathers during Alert Level 2 you must be a member, so please re-register this coming week. After 5 June only Members of the Club will be able to play while under Level 2.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to come back to any member of the committee.

Thanks

Jamie on behalf of the Auckland Feathers Committee
